Box #11

The subculture I've decided on is College Athletics. When I was in high school I played sports and they are still very interesting to me. I went to a school that had many athletes continue there career in college. One of these athletes was my sister. Another, my best friend. Lastly, another was one of my other close friends. The good thing about knowing these people and being able to get insight on how college athletics works is that, my sister is now in her junior year, so she has been around a while and has the hang of things. On top of that, she loves it. My friend, is a current freshman approaching her first season. She, on the other hand, doesn't like it as much and may even consider quitting. My last source will bring more diversity to the group because it is an already graduated male.
The only problem that I may come across is that since I am so close to them I don't want them to alter somethings that they may say to other people. Also, I don't want them to take advantage of our relationship and leave out details.

  1. Kristen,

So far it sounds like you have three good sources to go to as far as interviewing athletes. With you being an insider as far as sports go, this will give you an advantage to someone who maybe didnt play sports in school. Maybe try and interview people that you dont know as well to get a better range.
